All About Authors - Kindergarten/PK2

This week is all about different Authors! In the beginning of the week we will be talking about shape recognition. With 2D shapes in mind we will also talk about 3D shapes and relating them to the real world. In Language Arts we are talking about authors, illustrators, and the authors purpose of a book. Being Authors - Pre-K

We are ready to write our own stories and be the amazing authors that we are learning about. Yesterday, we heard a story by Don Freeman called Corduroy. Since the story talks about the bear's green overalls and his white button, we worked on recognizing and reading color words. Books and Their Authors - Pre-School

This week we introduce activities geared towards a different author and his/her stories for each day. Yesterday was all about Don Freeman and in art the children did some rainbow drip art using ink droppers. In math the children engaged in a game called mouse match and with this game the children had to find the mouse whose color matched the cheese in the middle of the board. Greetings from the toddler room! This week we will be focusing on our theme: “Author’s” On Monday, the used their cognitive skills to count or match the different varieties of Teddy bears at the math table. Painting Fun - Infant

It's authors week and the babies are getting to enjoy so many favorite books by these wonderful people, it is so much fun to have a small group hanging onto every word and watching the beautiful pictures that depict the stories. Healthy Teeth - Kindergarten/PK2

This week has been dental health week. Kindergarten has learned some big vocabulary words regarding dental health! We have been learning about healthy and not healthy food. With this we create food patterns and graphs in math. We also are working on counting on and subtraction. In reading we have been learning short and long vowel sounds. Dental Health - Pre-K

Hello families! We had another fun week here in the classroom learning all about dental health. The children gained some knowledge about this week and we hope that they continue to use that knowledge. The children learned that we have to replace our toothbrushes every 3 months in order to keep our teeth happy. The activities this week have been very enjoyable for the preschoolers. Yesterday in art they painted with toothpaste! In math the children worked on number matching by taking a number card and finding the matching number on the tooth. In language the children worked on letter recognition as they clipped lettered clothespins to match to dental words on a popsicle stick: dentist, toothpaste, toothbrush, smile, and teeth. Brushing Our Teeth - Toddler

As we continue to leran more about" Dental" week, the children explored with real egg brushing with homemade tooth paste and carton brushing to practice up and down and around in circle motions. At the math table the children practiced counting "Hippo" teeth by placing the number of mini marshmallows in front of the tooth. Hearts - Infant

Moving forward with our Valentine’s day theme has been a blast. The older infants have loved re-visiting our cut out hearts that we stuck to clear contact paper and then to the floor! We’ve talked about the pink red and purple colors of the hearts a ton! It was a blast counting the hearts out loud and watching the older infants react by pointing to the hearts while we counted!
