We are so excited to be back! Even though we couldn’t do as many field trips we have so much planned this summer! As we get back into the summer routine, we will be learning how to stay healthy during this time. We will practice proper hand washing as a class. We are learning quickly and will keep this healthy practice all summer. We will also together come up with summer rules. This week we are observing the class and how it may look different. We have toy bags and supplies for each in...

Glad to be Back - Pre-K

What a fun theme to come back to! We are having a blast with all the super hero talk and play! We start our day by singing "Happy Birthday" to a Super Hero everyday (today is Ironman's "birthday") when we wash our hands. We have made a list of super heros we know and some we want to know more about.

Today, we had a long discussion on how not everyone who is a super hero wears a cape (firefighters, policemen, and even teachers don't where capes but we are here to help!). We have been bu...

Our first week back since March 16, 2020 and it's been pretty good I must say. Other than getting use to the rooms divided, change in schedule/routines, the children have adapted pretty well with a few tears here and there. We missed them all so much!!

This weeks theme is "Superheroes". For art the children made spider man hand prints, superhero cuffs by decorating with glitter red and gold stars, and a superhero crown with red, yellow, blue and white stars, At the math table we...

We are slowly getting back into the swing of things and the children are becoming a little more comfortable everyday with being back in the classroom with their friends and teachers. They have been participating in one on one activities and having fun with some favorite toys while playing and exploring on the floor. The teachers sat on the floor and stacked blocks while we counted how high we could make them before they fell over - which they love to watch over and over again. The kitchen ...

Kindergarten has been continuing to learn about their 5 senses. We have learned about hearing, touching and taste! These next two days we will learn about seeing and smelling. We are now counting coins in different ways to make a dollar. We will keep practicing this skill and using it in our play food station. As we make our way through March please remember to bring coats, hats and even gloves on colder days. In our parent corner the whole class came up with the idea of recommendation sheets...

Blindfolding - Pre-K

Posted by Lakewood Childcare Center on March 12, 2020 at 6:15 PM Comments comments (0)

We continue to work on our 5 senses this week. Yesterday, we had fun being blindfolded and guessing our letters. Today, we got blindfolded and used our hands to feel bumps on cards and guess how many we felt. Out in the Great Room, we walked on jump ropes so we could feel them underneath our feet. We then tried to walk on them with our eyes closed, not being able to see what was under us or in front of us. When we take away a sense that we usually use, it changes our habits and makes us adjus...

Flashlight Fun - Infant

Continuing our theme of the five senses has been a blast! A crowd favorite in all the age groups in the infant room was watching and exploring the electric aquarium! We shut all the lights off in the classroom which got everyone’s attention in itself! It was fun to talk about how the room looks different in the dark vs the light before turning the aquarium on. Once we did flip the aquarium on, the infants loved looking at the moving fish and sea life. We talked about the how beautiful t...
