Exploring Cooking - Infant

This week in the infant classroom we have been exploring the Cooking theme! The younger infant’s practiced reaching for or holding onto measuring cups and plastic utensils, while we talked about how we use these tools to make meals! The older infant’s loved making plates of healthy foods at our pretend kitchen. Fun with Cooking - Young Toddler

The children painted with whisk's and spatula's on paper, made a collage out of food magazine pictures, explored with cookie cutters and playdough and Friday the children will stamp with real apples on paper.

Cooking Utensils- Pre-School

This week we are learning about cooking! We have been exploring the different types of tools we can use in the kitchen. We have talked about potato peelers, spatulas, wooden spoons, colanders, whisks, can openers, and measuring cups and spoons. We did a math lesson where we used measuring cups to estimate which one held more rice. Then we put the rice into a scale and talked about which measuring cup held more rice. Cooking Week - Pre-K

It has been all about cooking, making a variety of food and how we can use food and kitchen items in our daily play! We started our week off with "painting" with colored ice. We discussed our favorite foods (many of our friends REALLY like macaroni-and-cheese!). We also graphed our favorite ice cream topping and pretended to eat our ice cream! Space - Infant Room

This week the theme is Out of this world! This has been a fun theme to explore with the infants and we’ve done a few things together. The older infants enjoyed turning all our lights off and shinning flashlights on the walls and ceiling while we sang songs like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star as well as crumpling foil into balls and tossing them into baskets. Learning About Space - Young Toddler

For art the children made rockets by gluing on foam pieces and foil, moon- by stamping with koosh rings with blue paint on paper plates, Sun- painting with orange paint inside of baggies, Earth- sponge painting with blue paint on green paper circles and tomorrow the children will make a space wreath by painting with black paint and adding space stickers.

Space - Older Toddler

Art

The children made made Rockets by gluing on shape foam pieces and foil, Moons- by stamping with sponges and silver glitter powder, Letter S for star- glued various size colored starts, Earth- stamping with space stampers and stamp pads and tomorrow the children will make a space wreath with space stickers and black paint.

The children explored with rocket ship shape dot boards with colored bingo chips for lining up and making pattern as they follow the dots....

Out of this World - Pre-School

This week was all about space and all the things in space. On Monday in art the children made their own spaceships by gluing torn paper to the outside of a Styrofoam bowl and gluing the bowl to paper. In math the children engaged in an outer space bingo game and they did very well look for the pictures they needed to find on their board. 3...2...1....Blast off! That's right, this week has been all about Out of this World and traveling to space. It has been a fun filled week learning all about the planets, stars and galaxies. This week, we learned the order of our planets and the children have had their thinking caps on. For art this week the children marble painted with boxes as they moved their box back and forth to watch the marbles roll and make designs on their paper, Lufa painted on large green poster board paper with red painted to make a X-Mas tree for the front window and today, the children will explore with shaving cream and food coloring by laying their paper on top to make a design.
