This week in the infant classroom, the theme is Artists! We have explored quite a bit but here are our favorites! We tried scribbling with jumbo crayons on a large poster together as a group. The older infants did a great job taking turns and making large marks on the poster board. The group also enjoyed exploring shape sorters and nesting cups. We counted out loud at we tried stacking the cups and the smaller infants tried grasping toys and taking them in and out of the smaller nesting cups. The older infants also enjoyed painting at the low art easel with a sponge brush, exploring handled stamps and talking about/touching the snow outside. It has been a wonderful week in the infant classroom but we look forward to our Luau theme next week. Until next time!

This week in the infant classroom the theme is Black History month! We have talked about quite a bit this week but here are a few crowd favorites. The older infants loved reading different cultural books and talking about diversity and black history! We tried gluing red, yellow and green shapes to paper and talked about how Garrett Morgan invented the traffic light! It was fun to see the infants move glue to paper and then stick shapes to the paper. The group also enjoyed talking about the laminated photos hanging on our play yard wall, and practicing saying “mama” or “dada” or trying to point to familiar body parts like our head or nose. It’s been a wonderful week but we look forward to our new theme of Artists next week. Until next time!

This week in the infant classroom the theme is cooking! We have explored quite a bit but here are a few of our favorites! The younger infants loved exploring plastic food, plates and measuring cups. We worked on grasping the different items as well as making music by banging on the pots and pans with spoons! The older infants used those same items and practiced making healthy lunches with teachers and other friends in the room. We also used dry wash rags and practiced “washing” the pots and pans in the play sink! We also tried painting by stamping half an apple up and down in paint and then on paper! The group also loved watching a teacher put oil, water and food coloring in a baggie, and exploring it on the classroom floor under clear contact paper. It has been a wonderful week, but we look forward to a new theme next week! Until next time.

This week in the infant classroom the theme is Out of this world! We have had a blast during our first full week back, but here are a few crowd favorites! We had a new friend start in the infant classroom this week and our friends have loved singing the “Look who came to school today” song and waving to our friends in the room. We explored mini flash lights and turned all the lights off in the classroom. It was fun for the older infants to practice pressing the small button on the flash lights to change the color of the light. We also practiced our gluing skills by gluing yellow star shapes to black paper using sponge brushes. We have read different sensory books, explored stacking rings and chalk boards and even enjoyed some of the warmer weather outside earlier this week! We look forward to a new theme next week, until next time!

This week in the infant classroom the theme was Winter! We explored quite a bit but here are a few favorites. The infants loved to count out rainbow penguins together as we took them in and out of small baskets. We tried counting again when sticking snow flake cut outs to sticky paper on the wall. Some of our infants even tried crinkling the paper snowflakes and we talked about the sounds we heard from them. Our older infants have enjoyed this warmer weather this week and enjoyed dancing with rainbow ribbons in the classroom. We also tried stomping on music mats to make different silly sounds. We have had a wonderful week, but we look forward to the holiday theme next week! Until next time!

This week in the infant classroom we explored the theme of Dinosaurs! Our infants loved to practice stomping their feet as we listened to “Dinosaurs Marching!” The group also enjoyed other activities like dropping toys in and out of paper lunch bags, dropping sensory balls inside a tube and crawling after them when they come out the other side! We also lined the toy dinosaurs up in a line and counted them out loud together. The younger infants practiced pulling rainbow scarves out of empty juice bottles, and playing a simple game of hide and seek with small toys hidden under cloth! The infants also have been working on a special Christmas project for their parents this week! Its been a blast this week but we look forward to a new theme Monday. Until next time!

This week in the infant classroom the theme is Hanukkah! We have explored and talked about the holiday and what traditions go along with it! The infants enjoyed exploring different things this week including shape sorters, matching empty containers and their lids and scribbling on paper! The older infants have enjoyed the weather this week and the sunshine as they explored outside. Another few crowd favorites were painting with finger paint on top of foil and mixing food coloring in small baggies with shaving cream in them! It was fun to see the infants react to the color of the paint on the foil and the shaving cream turning from white to a bright color! We have had a great week but we look forward to a new theme on Monday! Until next time!

This week in the infant classroom the theme was Families! We explored and talked about a lot but we had a few favorites from the week. All of the infants enjoyed looking at the family photo door and talking about the familiar faces we see in the pictures. We practiced waving to one another and blowing kisses! We also tried pressing our feet into stamp pads and walking across poster board. It was fun for our older infants to point to their feet prints and then to their own feet and toes. We also explored sensory balls and the large pop up tunnel. A lot of our older friends also enjoyed pointing to their reflections and talking about our eyes nose and ears! We explored with chalk boards, puppets, stacked blocks as we count out loud and got to participate in the centers thanksgiving feast! It’s been a fun week but we look forward to our Thanksgiving theme next week!

This week in the infant classroom the theme was All around the world! The infants enjoyed different fun activities this week but here are a few of our crowd favorites. Our older infants loved reading different books about different cultures and languages. We also used the pictures in the books to point to and label familiar facial features like our eyes or nose. The one year old infants also tried gluing different colored cut out people to colorful paper! It was fun to watch the group move sponge brushes from the glue bowl to their paper, and press the people shapes down. The class also enjoyed exploring our laundry basket maze where a teacher thread yarn through the holes of a large basket and entangled toys through out the yarn for the infants to try and retrieve! We also explored stacking rings, taking holey balls in and out of small baskets and singing songs with puppets. It’s been a wonderful week in the infant room but we look forward to Theme week on Monday! Until next time.

This week in the infant classroom the theme was Halloween! We have explored a lot but here were some of our favorites. The entire infant classroom loved exploring thin foam pumpkin cut outs. The younger infants practiced reaching for the pumpkins on the floor during tummy time or off the ledge while standing. Our older infants loved exploring the classroom in search of hidden pumpkins. We tried counting out loud with each pumpkin we found. We also had a blast during our Halloween celebration with the center. It was a different way to spend our morning get dressed up in costumes, singing songs with our older friends and going on a wagon ride/waving to our siblings and older friends. We also explored sensory bags with spiders in them, paper and crayons and Halloween books. We look forward to a new theme next week! Until next time!
