Posted by Lakewood Childcare Center on February 13, 2020 at 3:55 PM

This week, the toddlers have been learning all about Valentine's Day. We kicked off our theme on Monday with a picture of Valentine's on the word wall. At the art table, we glued on heart tissue paper onto pink paper. At the math table, the toddlers matched conversation hearts to matching colored paper. At the manipulative table, the toddlers used Valentine's pencils to push through holes in lids on cans. At group, we read Guess Who Loves Blue. On Tuesday, at the art table, the toddlers made a love bug with wings, eyes, spots, etc. At the math table, the toddlers counted heart gems in heart boxes. At the manipulative table, the toddlers worked their fingers and stuck heart picks into styrofoam circles. At group, we read Happy Valentine's Day.

On Wednesday, we continued our theme of Valentine's Day. At the art table, the toddlers made a rose with petals, leaves, and a stem. At the math table, the toddlers matched colored roses to colored vases. At the manipulative table, the toddlers used scoops to pick up rose petals and put them into Valentine's buckets. At group, we read Valentine's For Everyone. On Thursday, at the art table, the toddlers stamped with heart cookie cutters in purple paint. At the math table, the toddlers matched Valentine's M & Ms to colored doileys. At the manipulative table, the toddlers manipulated playdough with heart cutters and rollers. At group, we read The Night Before Valentine's Day.
