This week is all about their five senses and the different ways they use them to experience the world around them. We brought out the puppets so all of the babies could enjoy them. The youngest had their body parts pointed out using the puppets while the older ones listened to them telling stories and singing fun songs. The bubbles came out and all of them enjoyed watching them until they popped (sometimes they landed on them!) The older children practiced their fine motor skills by trying to fit playing cards into the tops of coffee cans and the younger ones have discovered their hands and enjoy watching them for several minutes at a time. A lot of development activities have been happening as well - pulling up, crawling, rolling, walking - which many of them are doing together. We have had them experiment with imitation games, such as clapping after we have just shown them how and waving to others as they leave or come into our room. We have been reading fun books like "You Must Never Touch a Dragon" which gives them a great tactile experience while associating it with the words they are hearing. It has been a lot of fun having them discover new activities using their five senses and there are many more to come.
