The children will be exploring the use of all their five senses this week. Yesterday in art the children created handprints with paint on paper. In language the children matched upper case letters to lower case letters and then practiced writing the letters in a tray of corn meal. In math the children used their fine motor skills to put hair rubber bands on a popsicle stick and then counted how many bands were on the stick. Today in art the children painted with broccoli and in math they counted how many carrot slices were in each plastic bag, there were 10 bags. In language the children explored feeling different items and talked about what the item felt like and then tried to name what it was; there was a sponge, an apple, and a kiwi. This afternoon the children helped make a mix of coffee beans and coffee grounds, a good tactile experience as well as smell. In the water table this week the children are washing animals with soapy water using loofahs and sponges, and in the block area the children are building with sponges.
