We are ending the week with more fun experiences for the children to learn about the five senses. Yesterday in art the children painted with ketchup and mustard, in math they sorted 2 different soaps by the scent and then they worked on number identification and counting by looking at a numbered cup and placing that many number pieces of soap into the cup. In language the children looked at various pictures to talk about things their nose can smell. Today in art the children drew something they saw in the classroom. In math the children were give a shape and needed to look around the room and find something that matched the shape. In language the children matched letter spoons to words: eyes, ears, nose, hand and tongue. Tomorrow in art the children will paint with a color that the teacher whispers to them to use. In language the children match the picture with the sound they hear birds, train, horn, ambulance, horse and dog; and in math the children will use more of their sense of hearing to listen to the teacher whisper how many seashells to count out.
