Posted by Lakewood Childcare Center on June 12, 2020 at 6:35 PM

This week children have been learning more about life under the sea. They have been enjoying pictures of sea animals from the many books we have been reading to them, they like sharks the most! On Monday in language the children described what they saw of under the sea. In math they worked with counting seashells and placing them into bottle caps and in art they painted with colors of the sea. It’s joyful and a great time when they can express their imagination and have conversation with their friends about what they are doing. On Tuesday, they practiced their writing skills with names of different sea animals like shark, octopus, crab, and clown fish. In math they practiced patterning with counting fruits, and in art they made a turtle craft. Wednesday in language the children traced the first later of their name with rocks, it was was fun and a good activity for fine motor skills. In math the children matched the number of seashells with the numbers of the dots on clothespins and clipped the match to the seashell. In art the children painted with celery to symbolize the fish scales. Today the children matched letters of their name by clipping the letter clothespin to the letters in their name on a popsicle stick. In math the children counted fish in different pictures and matched the number card to the corresponding picture. In art the children glued colored paper dots to a star fish. Friday the children will work on letter sounds in language, and in math the children will work on a concentration game to match fish. In art the children will be painting with fish template.
