Posted by Lakewood Childcare Center on July 23, 2020 at 2:25 PM

Greetings from the Older Toddler Room:-) This week we are focusing on our theme of the week: "Christmas in July" On Monday, the children used their cognitive skills to either match or count out the various Christmas ducks at the math table. At the manipulative table, the children used their fine motor skills to put a string through the holes of the Christmas lacing boards. At the art table, the children made a snowman/snowflake collage by using a paintbrush dipped in glue to apply to construction paper and use their hands to pat down the cutouts onto the paper. On Tuesday, the children used their cognitive skills to place beads on their number columns by number or color. At the manipulative table, the children used their fine motor skills to place bracelets and rings around the mini cones on their trays while using their hands. At the art table, used a paintbrush dipped in paint to apply to their paper plates. The children also used their hands to apply odd and ends pieces to make their Christmas ornament. On Wednesday, the children used their cognitive skills to match the color shape buttons to the color buttons on the snowman sheet at the math table. At the manipulative table, the children used their fine motor skills to peel stickers off their Christmas sticker pad and stick them on paper. At the art table, the children used a paintbrush dipped in glue to apply to their construction paper and then used their hands to apply Christmas wrapping paper onto their construction paper. On Thursday, the children used their cognitive skills to match the gingerbread cut-outs by color at the math table. (Please note this was a change from the lesson plan instead of Christmas light blubs) At the manipulative table, the children used their fine motor skills to hold their safety scissors properly and make cuts into Christmas wrapping paper. Some children if they couldn't used their safety scissors yet, used their hands to tear the paper into pieces. At the art table, the children used sponges dipped in red and white paint for them to stamp on their construction paper making candy canes. On Friday, the children will explore their science experiment which is using their hands to feel shaving cream mixed with paint. Have a great weekend:-)
