Summer time is a good time to play sports and learn about sports. Monday was all about baseball. In art the children painted with a baseball, similar to marble painting, rolling the painted ball around in a box to paint the paper. In math the children sorted baseballs by size, and some children put the balls in order from big to small. In language the children dictated how you play baseball. Tuesday basketball day; in art the children glued pieces of yarn to paper and in math they talked about similarities and differences of various patterned basketball jerseys. In language the children worked on letter identification by matching lettered basketballs to lettered hoops. Wednesday was hockey day! In art the children did some watercolor painting and i math we did a little air hockey! The children used cups to push a handmade puck across the table and we counted how many goals and kept track of the score of each round. The children loved this experience! We did not get a chance to do language yesterday so we did it today at group, the children practiced writing letters. The teacher would spin the letter and we identified it and practiced writing. We will do todays art this afternoon, the children will cut and glue. Today's language was word matching: matching football words. Tomorrow is bowling and in language they will create and write words for a sports themed word wall. In math the children will do table bowling; using a golf ball to roll into lettered bottles or cups.
