This week we are talking about firefighters/fire safety as well as other community helpers. The kids have worked on their writing skills when writing stop, drop, and roll. We used letters that were on a firetruck to be able to identify and match letters. In math, we have had the kids organize pictures into what is hot and what is not. This allowed us to have a conversation about how to be safe and not touch hot objects. For art, we have been using some pretty fun painting tools such as toothbrushes and forks. Today we even used bandaids for art! I think the highlight of their week was on the playground yesterday when they saw a firetruck go by. It stopped at a nearby building and two firefighters went up the ladder onto the buildings roof. The preschoolers enjoyed being on the climber to watch our wonderful Lakewood firefighters in action!
