3...2...1....Blast off! That's right, this week has been all about Out of this World and traveling to space. It has been a fun filled week learning all about the planets, stars and galaxies. This week, we learned the order of our planets and the children have had their thinking caps on. While learning about the planets, we read and saw that Uranus and Neptune are two planets that are blue and are cold planets. I asked the children why they think that is and they all came to a conclusion that it is because those are the two furthest away from the sun! We have some smart astronauts in this class. We have also found a fun song talking about the planets. It is called the Planet Song by Kids Learning Tube on YouTube. It tells us different facts about the planets and the children seem to enjoy it. The children worked on a fizzing Jupiter experiment where we took some baking soda, water, and food coloring together, patted it into a ball and with eye droppers and vinegar created the planet to fizz. We did a lot of dancing this week because what better way is there to get the wiggles out but to have multiple dance parties!! We played a moon rock toss game, roll and cover and astronaut ten frames at math this week. We worked on our writing skills at language this week as well as letter recognition. We definitely had some fun this week at art with making our own moon stamps, marble planets and using star and sun punchers to create our own galaxy! It has been fun my little astronauts and we hope that you enjoyed exploring space with us as much as we did with you! On to the next mission of next week. Enjoy your weekend!
