It's summer time in our classroom and there have been many ways that we have been enjoying it! The children are having two opportunities to splash around in the pools this week and there is a new splash pad to play in as well. Some of the children are enjoying it a little more than others but all are coming around to it and are splashing and having a ton of fun while outside. Art activities have them making rainbow suncatchers with contact paper and tissue paper, making a large sun with their handprints and drawing on paper with chalk. They are using their fine motor skills to thread beads onto string and using tongs to try to pick up insects and drop them into containers. Language time has been a lot of fun too - bingo dabbers on the letter "s", stamping with different letter stamps and reading lots of books about the summer and the different ways people can celebrate it with their families. Sprinkled into all of this is science time where they will get a chance to feel the difference between hot and cold using ice and warm water. It has been a fun, busy week with a lot of new experiences and next week promises to be as much fun when we celebrate our country with the America the Beautiful theme!
