Back to School Fun - Older Toddler

This weeks theme is "Back To School"

Art

Monday- The children made a school bus by painting orange and gluing on wheels and stop sign

Tuesday- Pencil- The children glued on materials to resemble a pencil- black tip and eraser

Wednesday- Apple- The children painted paper plates red and glued on green stems

Thursday- Tree- The children used corks to stamp on tree trunk to make a colorful tree- red, orange and green

Friday- The children will stamp with real apples on white paper- red, green and yellow.

Math

We use play dough and number apple craft sticks to practice counting one by one, crayons and boxes to count with teacher help as the children put the crayons in and out of the box and number colored peg boards with colored sorters to practice naming and matching colors.

Motor Development

During activity time the children explored and manipulated pencil pouches with zippers to practice zipping back and forth, muffin tins with rubber bands to stretch rubber bands with fingers to place over the tins, stringing apples Jacks/cheerios to practice holding and manipulating, and tomorrow we will do Animal Yoga.

Safety

Review/remind children to hold an adults hand in the parking lot and Do Not leave the classroom without mommy or daddy, Introduce New Classroom rule: "Helping Hands"

Block Area

Cardboard colored brick blocks, small people and wooden stacking blocks

Tomorrow

We will explore parts of a real Apple- skin, flesh, stem and cut open and we will also explore what keeps an apple from turning brown by placing in baking soda, milk and lime juice and check it after nap.
