It has been an exciting week back into the school year. We said goodbye to our older four year old friends who moved on to pre-k, and we welcomed some new friends into preschool. Monday in art the children painted with sponges and in language they bingo marker dotted their names. In math the children explored sorting bear counters by color, and counting how many in each group. Tuesday in art the children painted with watercolors and in language they matched stone letters to a letter mat. In math the children sorted the bear counters and it was by size; small, medium and big. Wednesday in art the children painted with apples, a great sensory experience! We combined the math experience with fine motor as the children strung apple jacks onto a string, and then counted how many they had. Today in art the children explored glue, as they glued tissue paper squares to paper and in language the children dictated what their favorite part of school is. Tomorrow in art the children will get creative with shaving cream and food coloring and in language they will practice writing some school words for the word wall. In math the children will sort apples by color.
