Happy December! The children are excited that December is here because that means it's almost Christmas time and our classroom elf, Samwell has arrived from the North Pole! They know that he is here visiting for a short while but they are excited to see him and they immediately saw him on the first day that he arrived. The children know not to touch him because he could lose his magic and he can't get back to the North Pole.
We learned about Hanukkah this week and the children made masking tape Menorah, made a watercolor dreidel, and the Star of David. We have been focusing ore on fine motor skills this week so we did more with our hands during Art. We picked a number from 1-9, counted the number of candles to put on the Menorah and we used our fingers to trace the numbers. We practiced writing Kk and 10 ten this week as well. We have been doing number recognition and the children are starting to recognize higher numbers. We also have started using the pencil grips so that some of the children can get used to writing the proper way. We also have been practicing counting using different material such as small blocks, flexos, and dominoes.
It will be snowing soon so make sure your children have proper winter clothes and check your child's cubby to make sure they have warm clothes in case they get their clothes dirty. We know Ohio weather can change constantly and you can leave something in your child's cubby but be mindful of how much room the cubby has. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Ms. Michelle!
